At Continence, Ostomy and Wound Services (COWS) our mission is to deliver exceptional, patient-centred care that fosters wellbeing and community connection. We are committed to upholding the following values in every aspect of our practice:
Education: Knowledge is power. By actively engaging in continuous learning, the COWS team stays up to date with nursing research and advancements in evidence based practice. This knowledge is shared with clients and carers to facilitate informed decisions and optimal health outcomes.
Empowerment: We strive to empower clients through education and a collaborative approach to care planning. We understand the importance of independence and autonomy, upholding these values as much as possible through client consultation and support.
Empathy: Our clinicians treat each client with compassion, understanding, and respect. We listen to their concerns and strive to create a safe and supportive environment where they feel heard and valued.
Esteem: We value the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. We focus on developing relationships based on mutual respect, understanding and open communication.
Through these values, we provide an inclusive and holistic healthcare experience that promotes well-being and quality of life for our clients and their carers.

COWS' founder and clinical lead Tracey Aldis has over 35 years nursing experience and holds several post-graduate qualifications. Her areas of advanced practice include continence, ostomy, wounds, palliative care, aged care, and community nursing.
Tracey's nursing passion comes from a fundamental desire to empower people living with health challenges and minimise their suffering. Throughout her almost four decades of industry experience Tracey has lived and worked primarily in Logan, which has provided powerful insights into the everyday struggles of her clients. Along with her hands-on work,
Tracey extols the importance of education, practicing what she preaches by continuously undertaking further learning in her chosen fields. She also promotes lifelong learning for others, regularly speaking at educational events around Australia and writing health focused articles for Independence Australia, a nationwide social enterprise and NDIS service provider. Her commitment to promoting nursing excellence through education is further demonstrated by her active engagement with the Australian College of Nursing.
